Voodoo Ray is the artist name of Belgian based dj and producer Pieter Minner.
While appreciating a broad range of genres, he currently favors the most a repetitive, hypnotic style of Techno, sometimes minimal or tribal oriented with regularly an ominous and melancholic touch without in any case losing sight of the dance-floor friendliness of the tracks he is playing.
At the age of 9, his interest in spinning records was aroused by his primary school teacher who installed a dj booth at the front of his classroom and played vinyl records during the tests.
His passion for electronic dance music started in 1987 with the rise of New Beat and because at the playground of his school live recordings circulated from the legendary Belgian club Boccaccio Life.
As soon as this underground electronic music became more and more accessible through the CD series Serious Beats and House Party, he started mixing tapes himself. In 1993 he bought his first 12″ vinyl records and as soon as he mastered the art of beat mixing, he started to play at various parties, clubs and events.
From 1994 till 1999 Voodoo Ray was invited as guest deejay in several clubs like Space (Ibiza), Pacha (Ibiza), Katsu (Heers), Pharao Dreamland (Halen), Atmoz (Hasselt). He also played at various parties and raves like Dance Opera Trip (Leuven), Strictly Trance (Geel) and Mystery Trip (Sint-Truiden).
From 1996 till 1999 he was also resident deejay in the clubs Jazz Cafe (Hasselt) and Nota Bene (Leuven).
He has been spinning records with deejays Reche, Marco Bailey, Peter Novak, Marko De La Rocca, Tofke, Frank “Zolex” Struyf, Dimitri Gelders and many others.
After a long break he relaunched his dj career in 2020 and also started to produce his first records.
